March 20, 2003: Day X has come! War has started! At 3.30 a.m. (Central European Time), the USA started the military attack on Iraq!
1.5 hours after the end of the ultimatum to Saddam Hussein to leave his
land set by President Bush, the USA started the war against Iraq. The
go-ahead for a bloody aggressive war against Iraq was given with 40 cruise
missiles of the "Tomohawk"-type and cluster bombs, which were
dropped from stealth bombers of the type F117 "Nighthawks". With
that Day X has come as it has been prepared since long by the peace
movement.
Stefan Engel, chairman of MLPD, has called on the members and friends of the MLPD and REBELL to participate actively in the peace activities on today's Thursday:
"Everywhere where our comrades work, live or go to schools or universities, they have to become active. In the factories it should be aimed at stopping work in protest. In schools and universities an active school- or lecture boycotts should be organized. The peace movement has called to stage peace rallies, demonstrations and other protests in the city centers at 5 p.m. The MLPD is going to make its contribution that this day will not only be remembered as the sad day of the beginning of the attack on Iraq, but also as the day of active resistance against the aggression of USA against Iraq."
MLPD calls upon the people to continue the weekly Monday-actions as long as the war lasts. During the morning the Central Committee will issue a declaration on the new situation.
Condemn the aggression against Iraq!
Stop Immediately the fighting of the US led troops of aggression!
